About Us!
Richard Meltz began Centaur Cycles in Santa Fe, NM in 1980. He fixed motorcycles there, specializing in BMWs. Richard started offering Royal Enfields and then scooters in Santa Fe. High quality motor scooters were becoming available in the United States for the first time in years. In 2002 he spun off New Urban Transport in Albuquerque specifically to be a scooter shop, providing these high quality scooters to Albuquerque. In 2003 Meg Meltz, a recovering State employee, joined Centaur Cycles full time. At this time the Santa Fe store became Centaur Cycles & Scooters.

Lisa now runs the parts department of New Urban Transport, talking to customers, handling paperwork, ordering parts. Lisa's in nursing school when she's not at NUT. And Jeannette handles accounts, paperwork, talking to folks, ordering, whatever. She's returning to UNM this fall but will still be working at NUT part time.

Andrew is New Urban Transport's service manager. The United States Air Force kindly trained him for us. Thanks, Air Force!!

Nick Parnell and New Urban Transport found each other immediately. Nick became the service manager bringing his tremendous scooter experience to bear.

Julie Hughes managed New Urban Transport for three years and got the business off the ground. With her creativity and hard work, New Urban Transport was well on its way to being one of the premiere scooter shops in the South West.

Meg, the web mistress.

Kyle was at NUT in the beginning too. He has moved on to a full time job elsewhere. He still twists wrenches when he has time.
